Law enforcement professionals are the backbone of our communities, but the pressure to deliver results can be immense. With the constant demand for accurate and timely investigations, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and rushed.

Adding to this stress, you must remember there is always the possibility of having to testify to what you did, how you did it, and why you come to that conclusion. And let’s face it, no one enjoys the thought of testifying in court.

Preparing for the chair while conducting your analysis and investigation is paramount. In this presentation, we'll equip you with the tools and strategies to confidently navigate the stand.

You'll learn how to:

  • Build a strong foundation: Ensure your prosecutor is fully informed and aligned with your findings.
  • Speak with impact: Communicate complex information clearly and concisely to judges and juries.
  • Anticipate challenges: Understand common defense tactics and develop effective counterarguments.
  • Master your mindset: Overcome nerves and maintain composure under pressure.

Darryl Valinchus (SDS, Ret.) retired from the NYPD after almost 30 years of service. For the last 10 years of his career, he was assigned to the Intelligence Bureau, where he is largely credited with creating and developing the Analytical Programs Unit, which is responsible for coordination and implementation of the Bureau’s signals intelligence investigations and analysis for the City of New York’s terrorist investigations along with any high-profile cases. Danielle Davis

Principal Assistant District Attorney Suffolk County District Attorney's Office

Dani Davis is the Principal Assistant District Attorney for Suffolk County, New York, and an accomplished trial attorney. She made history as the first prosecutor in the county to secure a conviction for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, in a case where no eyewitnesses or tangible narcotics were present. This groundbreaking case, known as a "Death Sale," was built on cellular data, cell site analysis, and medical examiner testimony, involving a fatal fentanyl overdose. Since then, Suffolk County has prosecuted multiple cases using the Death Sale theory, targeting the sale of fatal doses of fentanyl and fentanyl-laced cocaine.

Dani is also highly skilled in Cellebrite Physical Analyzer, often sharing her expertise through Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses. She teaches legal professionals how to draft search warrants for cellular devices, admit Cellebrite extraction reports in court, and prepare witnesses for cellular data testimony. Working closely with state and federal law enforcement, Dani is involved in investigations from their inception through trial, constantly seeking innovative ways to hold defendants accountable for narcotics-related deaths.
