Amanda McCourtie

Assistant Supervising Criminal Investigative Analyst Philadelphia District Attorney's Office

Graduating from Temple University with a degree in Criminal Justice, Amanda has been involved in different departments at each legal system level. From volunteering at the Innocence Project which works to exonerate wrongfully convicted inmates, to interning at the DAO office learning how an ADA prosecutes cases in court, and now working as a forensic analyst at the Gun Violence Task Force Unit. Some of her roles now include extracting data from electronic devices, analyzing said data by utilizing various computer forensic databases, testifying to the findings in court, and creating comprehensive mapping to demonstrate the estimated movement of a device that may be used in a crime.

As one of the senior members of the analysts at the APD lab in the Gun Violence Task Force Unit Amanda has already testified in court numerous times, attended raids in the accompaniment of the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, and served as a liaison to the Intel Unit and GVI. Amanda has successfully completed over 20 certifications such as CCO, CCPA, CASA, CCME, and PLX Basics, and continues to learn. She brings a fresh perspective to the unit when it comes to approaching tasks and finding proactive solutions.

 

William Fritze

Chief, Gun Violence Task Force Philadelphia District Attorney's Office

William Fritze (Bill) is Chief of Gun Violence Task Force of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. Bill created the Analytics Program Division of GVTF, a lab of computer forensic analysts that extract cell phone and use other electronic media to assist law enforcement in the arrests and prosecutions. Known as the “Electronic Sherlock Holmes”, Bill continues to focus on using digital forensics pushing the Gun Violence Task Force to become a unit known for its extensive investigations and prosecutions of straw purchasing and gun related violent crime and conducting large scale investigations to tackle gun violence in Philadelphia.

Bill joined the District Attorney’s Office in 2007, finding his passion in providing public legal service as a Victim/Witness Coordinator serving the needs and protecting the rights of victims in the City of Philadelphia. During his time with the District Attorney’s Office, Bill attended Law School in the evening at Widener School of Law, and graduated with honors in 2012.
